HISTORY
Restoring the Past, Building for the Future.
The Meyer Landmark Apartments bring new life to a beloved historic building in downtown Hutchinson. Originally opened in 1923 as the Stamey Hotel, this iconic structure has served as a cornerstone of the community for over a century. Now, thanks to the vision and dedication of Laura Meyer-Dick, the building is undergoing a transformative renovation to create 36 modern apartments. This project blends the charm of its storied past with a much-needed investment in housing, ensuring the Landmark remains a vital part of Hutchinson's future.
A Rich History Revived.
The restoration honors the Landmark’s rich history while addressing modern needs. Famous figures, including President Truman, once graced its halls, and decades later, it remains a symbol of community pride. Laura’s inspiration for the project came from her desire to honor her father’s legacy after his passing in 2020. With support from a donation in his memory, historic tax credits, private equity, and city and state grants, the project is creating spacious apartments, 24 of which will be designated for moderate-income housing. These efforts not only preserve the building’s heritage but also address the growing demand for affordable downtown living.
Looking Forward
Set to open in the fall of 2026, the Meyer Landmark Apartments will serve as a catalyst for downtown revitalization. Situated within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and entertainment, the development is expected to drive more traffic to local businesses and attract new opportunities to the area. Supported by the City of Hutchinson and embraced by the community, this ambitious project marks a promising future for downtown, blending history, housing, and growth in one remarkable transformation.
